Né à Montpellier (Hérault).
Peintre d'histoire, compositions religieuses, scènes de genre, portraits, lithographe.
Elève d'Eugène et d'Achille Devéria, il obtient une médaille de troisième classe en 1842, de deuxième classe en 1844 et 1848, de première classe en 1855. Il expose au Salon de Paris de 1836 à 1880. Glaize décore la chapelle Saint-Jean à l'église Saint-Sulpice ; la chapelle Saint-Fiacre, à l'église Notre-Dame de Bercy ; la chapelle Sainte- Geneviève, à l'église Saint-Gervais ; la chapelle des fonts baptismaux, à l'église Saint-Eustache. Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Auguste Barthélémi Glaize (1807-1893) by Nadar was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century Paintings and Drawings auction at Artcurial in Paris in October 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 1,560.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nadar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alexandre Dumas in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 81,250.00 (€ 74,575.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Auguste Barthélémi Glaize (1807-1893) von Nadar wurde im Oktober 2011 in der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Paintings and Drawings bei Artcurial in Paris versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 1.560,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nadar erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Alexandre Dumas im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 81.250,00 (€ 74.575,49).
