Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Loading barges on the Thames by George Barret the Younger was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 750.00 (€ 906.81). Admittedly, works by George Barret the Younger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Solitude: An Italianate Landscape With A Figure Reclining Beneath Trees in July 2017 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,695.08).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Loading barges on the Thames von George Barret the Younger im November 2008 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 750,00 (€ 906,81) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Barret the Younger auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Solitude: An Italianate Landscape With A Figure Reclining Beneath Trees im Juli 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 6.695,08).
