Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work Male Nude Hanging, 1941 by George Platt Lynes for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,756.01). This price was achieved in the auction Visionaries: Photographs from the Emily and Jerry Spiegel Collection at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Platt Lynes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Yul Brynner, 1942, which sold at auction in October 2005 for USD 16,800.00 (€ 14,005.84).
