In December 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work The Madonna by Giovanni Battista Salvi. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 82,500.00 (€ 96,455.89), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Battista Salvi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Madonna and Child embracing in an interior, a landscape with Saint Joseph beyond in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 433,250.00 (€ 551,844.05).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Madonna von Giovanni Battista Salvi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 82.500,00 (€ 96.455,89) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Salvi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Madonna and Child embracing in an interior, a landscape with Saint Joseph beyond im Juli 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 433.250,00 (€ 551.844,05).
