In December 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Aboriginal Art, which included the work Self Portrait (But I Always Wanted To Be One Of The Good Guys) by Gordon Bennett. It changed hands for a price of USD 437,500.00 (€ 389,685.58) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 350,000.00 – 450,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Self Portrait (But I Always Wanted To Be One Of The Good Guys) is the most expensive artwork by Gordon Bennett that we have observed at auctions so far.
