Samuel Carr was chairman of the publishers B.T. Batsford, and a keen collector of Modern British Art. His brother, the well-known Northern Irish painter Tom Carr, introduced Sam to his Slade School and Euston Road School contemporaries. Sam struck up a particularly close friendship with Victor Pasmore and purchased many works directly from him.

A top price for Graham Bell
This artwork by Graham Bell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2017. In the Modern/British Art Online auction, the work The Ante-Room sold for GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,810.89) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. This high result makes The Ante-Room the most expensive artwork by Graham Bell that we have observed at auctions so far.
