Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The spirit of the rose quartz salutes you by Kate Greenaway was sold in the Original Illustration Art from the Collections of Kendra and Allan Daniel auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,216.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kate Greenaway - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Study of a young girl in a garden, a border of nasturtiums and other plants beyond, which sold at auction in June 2004 for GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,449.63).
