Auction result well in line with expectations
The work L'Apôtre Jean Journet partant pour la conquête de l'harmonie universelle by Gustave Courbet was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century Prints auction at Christies in New York in January this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,008.00 (€ 928.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Courbet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Femme Nue Couchée in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 15,285,000.00 (€ 14,471,690.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit L'Apôtre Jean Journet partant pour la conquête de l'harmonie universelle von Gustave Courbet wurde im Januar diesen Jahres in der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Prints bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.008,00 (€ 928,35) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave Courbet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Femme Nue Couchée im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.285.000,00 (€ 14.471.690,97).
