A top price for Gustave Courbet - as previously expected
The work Femme Nue Couchée by Gustave Courbet was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000,000.00 – 25,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 15,285,000.00 (€ 14,471,690.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Femme Nue Couchée is the most expensive artwork by Gustave Courbet that we have observed at auctions so far.

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000.000,00 – 25.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 15.285.000,00 (€ 14.471.690,97) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
