Daruma's Shoe
Edo period (1615-1868), mid-18th century
Kakejiku (hanging scroll), ink on paper in silk mounts with lacquered wood jikusaki (scroll ends), depicting one of the shoes of Daruma (Bodhidaruma) balanced on reeds floating on water, with an inscription above Even this is the Reed Daruma with three indistinct seals; with a plain wood storage box and outer card case. Overall: 135cm x 68.5cm (53 1/8in x 27in); image: 49cm x 50cm (19¼in x 19 11/16in). (3).
