Artwork auctioned at nine times the upper estimate price
The work Workers Resting by Hamed Ewais was worth GBP 437,500.00 (€ 513,666.16) to a buyer in November 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Middle Eastern 20th and 21st Century Art at Christies and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 45,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hamed Ewais; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Al Aabour (The Crossing Of The Suez Canal) sold at auction in March 2016 with the realized price of USD 605,000.00 (€ 531,167.69).
