Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Maria, Countess von Dönhoff by Hans Makart was sold in the 19th Century European & Orientalist Art auction at Christies in London in May 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 110,500.00 (€ 135,808.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hans Makart - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Frauenporträt in ägpytischem Kostüm, which sold at auction in October 2000 for GBP 174,250.00 (€ 297,843.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Maria, Countess von Dönhoff von Hans Makart wurde im Mai 2014 in der Auktion 19th Century European & Orientalist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 110.500,00 (€ 135.808,06) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Hans Makart mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Frauenporträt in ägpytischem Kostüm beobachtet, die im Oktober 2000 für GBP 174.250,00 (€ 297.843,07) versteigert wurde.
