Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt could be acquired at Christies in New York in October 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Treasures of France auction, the work An Allegory of The Arts; And An Allegory of Learning, In Feigned Architectural Surrounds changed hands for USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,646.55) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Boeren Buijtenvreugt': a wedding dance in a village, which sold at auction in May 2002 for EUR 35,850.00.
