In December 2011 Christies in London held the auction An Iberian Private Collection Part II: Furniture, Silver, Jewellery, Paintings, European, Chinese & Islamic Ceramics, which included the work A river estuary with fishermen and stevedores, a dock and a windmill beyond by Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt. The result of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,790.57) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Boeren Buijtenvreugt': a wedding dance in a village in May 2002 with an auction result of EUR 35,850.00.
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion An Iberian Private Collection Part II: Furniture, Silver, Jewellery, Paintings, European, Chinese & Islamic Ceramics durch, in der auch die Arbeit A river estuary with fishermen and stevedores, a dock and a windmill beyond von Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.790,57) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hendrik Willem Schweickhardt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Boeren Buijtenvreugt': a wedding dance in a village im Mai 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 35.850,00.
