This artwork by Hemendranath Mazumdar achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2007. In the Modern and Contemporary Indian Art auction, the work Shilpi sold for USD 90,000.00 (€ 67,294.75) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Hemendranath Mazumdar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Abhiman (Wounded Vanity) in June 2018 with an auction result of GBP 413,750.00 (€ 467,608.01).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 80 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Hemendranath Mazumdar erzielte im März 2007 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Indian Art wurde die Arbeit Shilpi für USD 90.000,00 (€ 67.294,75) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hemendranath Mazumdar auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Abhiman (Wounded Vanity) im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 413.750,00 (€ 467.608,01).
