This artwork by Hemendranath Mazumdar achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2018. In the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art auction, the work Untitled (Lady with Fruit Basket) sold for USD 56,250.00 (€ 48,399.59) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Hemendranath Mazumdar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Abhiman (Wounded Vanity) in June 2018 with an auction result of GBP 413,750.00 (€ 467,608.01).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Hemendranath Mazumdar erzielte im September 2018 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Lady with Fruit Basket) für USD 56.250,00 (€ 48.399,59) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hemendranath Mazumdar auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Abhiman (Wounded Vanity) im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 413.750,00 (€ 467.608,01).
