It achieved a price of GBP 93,750.00 (€ 102,931.27), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 56%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hendrik Willem Mesdag - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Marée Bas, which sold at auction in April 2001 for NLG 895,000.00 (€ 410,788.26).

Die Arbeit Boats At Sea von Hendrik Willem Mesdag kam im Juli 2019 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 93.750,00 (€ 102.931,27) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 56%. Für andere Arbeiten von Hendrik Willem Mesdag mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Marée Bas beobachtet, die im April 2001 für NLG 895.000,00 (€ 410.788,26) versteigert wurde.
