Auction result misses estimated price range
In October this year a collector was able to acquire the work Ionian Sea, Santa Cesarea (no. 343) by Hiroshi Sugimoto for USD 19,200.00 (€ 18,168.05). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Bonhams in London and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hiroshi Sugimoto achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Sea, Ozuluce; Yellow Sea, Cheju; Red Sea, Safaga in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,888,000.00 (€ 1,403,404.45).
