Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ice by Howard Hodgkin was auctioned at Phillips in 19 - in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,270.00 (€ 1,270.00). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Howard Hodgkin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Goodbye to the Bay of Naples in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 1,688,750.00 (€ 1,925,505.56).
