Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A man resting near a riverside cottage; and Highland cattle by a river with a village beyond by J. Morris was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 293.75 (€ 492.48). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by J. Morris - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fireside companions, which sold at auction in May 2007 for GBP 780.00 (€ 1,147.82).

Als die Arbeit A man resting near a riverside cottage; and Highland cattle by a river with a village beyond von J. Morris im Mai 2001 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 400,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 293,75 (€ 492,48) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von J. Morris mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fireside companions beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für GBP 780,00 (€ 1.147,82) versteigert wurde.
