Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French brighton by Jacques-Émile Blanche was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 26,069.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques-Émile Blanche achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vaslav Nijinsky In 'Danse Siamoise' in October last year with an auction result of USD 2,700,000.00 (€ 2,717,938.39).
