Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Albany by James Bard was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 56,250.00 (€ 50,707.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Bard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Steamboat Austin, 1853, which sold at auction in September 2014 for USD 161,000.00 (€ 127,494.46).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Albany von James Bard kam im Januar 2020 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 56.250,00 (€ 50.707,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von James Bard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Steamboat Austin, 1853 beobachtet, die im September 2014 für USD 161.000,00 (€ 127.494,46) versteigert wurde.
