The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,627.23), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by James Burrell Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Anglers by a rapid; and A waterfall in a mountainous landscape in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,715.77).
