Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian & Edwardian Art, which included the work The Brook - "And Out Again I Curve And Flow, To Join The Brimming River; For Men May Come, And Men May Go, But I Go On Forever." - Tennyson by James Clarke Hook. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 19,692.96) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Clarke Hook - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Gull Catcher, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 38,240.00 (€ 55,829.19).

Im Dezember 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Victorian & Edwardian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Brook - "And Out Again I Curve And Flow, To Join The Brimming River; For Men May Come, And Men May Go, But I Go On Forever." - Tennyson von James Clarke Hook zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 19.692,96) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von James Clarke Hook mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Gull Catcher beobachtet, die im Februar 2003 für GBP 38.240,00 (€ 55.829,19) versteigert wurde.
