Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Venetian capriccios by James Salt was sold in the British and Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in December 2006. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,685.70), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Salt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Venetian cappriccio; and A Venetian backwater, which sold at auction in March 2004 for GBP 15,535.00 (€ 23,254.47).

Die Arbeit Venetian capriccios von James Salt wurde im Dezember 2006 in der Auktion British and Victorian Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.200,00 (€ 10.685,70) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von James Salt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Venetian cappriccio; and A Venetian backwater beobachtet, die im März 2004 für GBP 15.535,00 (€ 23.254,47) versteigert wurde.
