Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jan Siberechts could be acquired at Christies in London in July 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction, the work Peasant women sorting vegetables and milking cattle by a horse and cart, a thatched house beyond changed hands for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 21,264.96) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Siberechts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pastoral Landscape With A Shepherdess On A Donkey Carrying A Basket Of Flowers, And Fording A Stream With A Village In The Distance And With A Church, Almost Certainly Edensor, Near Chatsworth, Derbyshire in February 2018 with an auction result of USD 250,000.00 (€ 204,733.44).
