Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Cathedral of Mantes by Jean Eve was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,250.00 (€ 793.75). Admittedly, works by Jean Eve have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Montreuil au printemps in July 2005 with an auction result of USD 4,200.00 (€ 3,462.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Cathedral of Mantes von Jean Eve im Juni 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.250,00 (€ 793,75) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean Eve auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Montreuil au printemps im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.200,00 (€ 3.462,78).
