Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Vestal Virgin Before A Burning Altar by Jean François Sablet was sold in the Old Master Paintings, European Sculpture & Antiquities auction at Sothebys in New York in June 2009. The price achieved of USD 47,500.00 (€ 33,880.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean François Sablet - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait D’Une Artiste Dessinant D’Après Une Antiquité, which sold at auction in December 2013 for CHF 125,000.00 (€ 101,876.04).

Die Arbeit Vestal Virgin Before A Burning Altar von Jean François Sablet wurde im Juni 2009 in der Auktion Old Master Paintings, European Sculpture & Antiquities bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 33.880,17) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden.
