The work Study for Napoléon on horseback from Campagne de France, 1814 by Ernest Meissonier was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2016. It achieved a price of USD 40,000.00 (€ 36,489.69), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 33%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernest Meissonier achieve.
