Despite a disappointment, a good price for Jean-Richard Goubie
When the work French l'Après-Midi Du Dimanche Au Jardin D'Acclimatation by Jean-Richard Goubie was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 700,000.00 – 1,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 662,500.00 (€ 460,837.51). Despite this disappointing result, French l'Après-Midi Du Dimanche Au Jardin D'Acclimatation is the most expensive artwork by Jean-Richard Goubie that we have observed at auction so far.
