Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Jimmy Ernst was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 625.00 (€ 466.77). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jimmy Ernst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Imminence in March 2006 with an auction result of USD 21,600.00 (€ 17,793.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Jimmy Ernst im Juli 2014 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 625,00 (€ 466,77) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jimmy Ernst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Imminence im März 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 21.600,00 (€ 17.793,89).
