In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction The Collection of Ambassador and Mrs. Felix Rohatyn, which included the work The Connoisseur In His Library by Johann Hamza. The »bidding war« ended at USD 9,450.00 (€ 8,113.68), 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Johann Hamza have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A difficult recital in March 2001 with an auction result of GBP 28,200.00 (€ 45,503.53).

Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion The Collection of Ambassador and Mrs. Felix Rohatyn durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Connoisseur In His Library von Johann Hamza zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 9.450,00 (€ 8.113,68) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Johann Hamza auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A difficult recital im März 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 28.200,00 (€ 45.503,53).
