In April this year Bonhams held the auction Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art, which included the work Untitled, circa 1965 by John Altoon. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,012.50 (€ 6,351.90), 40% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Altoon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Trip No. 2 in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 80,500.00 (€ 61,752.07).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled, circa 1965 von John Altoon zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.012,50 (€ 6.351,90) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Altoon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Trip No. 2 im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.500,00 (€ 61.752,07).
