The work Untitled, from the Hyperion Series, 1964 by John Altoon was sold in the Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art auction at Bonhams in April this year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 17,850.00 (€ 16,168.48), 49% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Altoon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Trip No. 2, which sold at auction in November 2010 for USD 80,500.00 (€ 61,752.07).

Die Arbeit Untitled, from the Hyperion Series, 1964 von John Altoon wurde im April diesen Jahres in der Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art bei Bonhams versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 17.850,00 (€ 16.168,48) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Altoon mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Trip No. 2 beobachtet, die im November 2010 für USD 80.500,00 (€ 61.752,07) versteigert wurde.
