Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A huntsmen feeding his dog by John Arthur Lomax was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,058.56). Admittedly, works by John Arthur Lomax have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work In Doubt in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 10,575.00 (€ 16,762.68).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A huntsmen feeding his dog von John Arthur Lomax im Februar 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.410,00 (€ 2.058,56) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Arthur Lomax auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit In Doubt im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.575,00 (€ 16.762,68).
