Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2002 Christies in London held the auction VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work December Moonlight by John Atkinson Grimshaw. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 92,450.00 (€ 144,771.93), 16% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Atkinson Grimshaw have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Liverpool Custom House And Wapping in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 612,800.00 (€ 909,471.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion VICTORIAN PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit December Moonlight von John Atkinson Grimshaw zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 92.450,00 (€ 144.771,93) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Atkinson Grimshaw auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Liverpool Custom House And Wapping im Dezember 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 612.800,00 (€ 909.471,91).
