In November 2002 Christies in Los Angeles held the auction CALIFORNIA, WESTERN AND AMERICAN PAINTINGS, which included the work Red Jacket, A Celebrated Indian Chief by John Neagle. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,157.50 (€ 10,227.04), 69% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Neagle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Red Jacket, which sold at auction in September 2012 for USD 40,000.00 (€ 31,113.88).

Im November 2002 führte Christies in Los Angeles die Auktion CALIFORNIA, WESTERN AND AMERICAN PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Red Jacket, A Celebrated Indian Chief von John Neagle zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.157,50 (€ 10.227,04) und damit 69% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Neagle mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Red Jacket beobachtet, die im September 2012 für USD 40.000,00 (€ 31.113,88) versteigert wurde.
