In October 2013 Christies in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Sunflower by John Bratby. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,136.97), 40% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Bratby have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life With Oranges in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 39,858.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2013 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sunflower von John Bratby zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.136,97) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Bratby auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life With Oranges im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 39.858,47).
