Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A chestnut and two bay racehorses belonging to John Bowes with jockeys up by John Dalby was sold in the Victorian & Traditionalist Art auction at Christies in London in February 2009. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,570.01) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Dalby have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Kill in June 2001 with an auction result of USD 47,000.00 (€ 55,463.77).

Die Arbeit A chestnut and two bay racehorses belonging to John Bowes with jockeys up von John Dalby wurde im Februar 2009 in der Auktion Victorian & Traditionalist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.570,01) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Dalby auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Kill im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.000,00 (€ 55.463,77).
