Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sortie Made By The Garrison Of Gibraltar by John Trumbull was sold in the Important Americana auction at Christies in New York in January this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,542.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Trumbull achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work George Washington in May last year with an auction result of USD 1,620,000.00 (€ 1,509,644.95).

Die Arbeit Sortie Made By The Garrison Of Gibraltar von John Trumbull wurde im Januar diesen Jahres in der Auktion Important Americana bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 7.542,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Trumbull erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit George Washington im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.620.000,00 (€ 1.509.644,95).
