Auction result well in line with expectations

In October 2006 Christies in London held the auction Travel and Natural History, which included the work Egyptians and their camels resting by a temple by Joseph Austin Benwell. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,227.23) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Joseph Austin Benwell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Caravan Passing The Statues of Memnon In The Plain of Goorna At Thebes in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 31,200.00 (€ 24,714.83).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Oktober 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Travel and Natural History durch, in der auch die Arbeit Egyptians and their camels resting by a temple von Joseph Austin Benwell zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.160,00 (€ 3.227,23) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Austin Benwell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Caravan Passing The Statues of Memnon In The Plain of Goorna At Thebes im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 31.200,00 (€ 24.714,83).
