This artwork by Juan Carreño de Miranda achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2021. In the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction, the work Saint Jerome in the Wilderness hearing the trumpets of the Last Judgement sold for GBP 13,860.00 (€ 16,253.72) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Juan Carreño de Miranda have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Charles Ii, King Of Spain (1661-1700) in December 2009 with an auction result of GBP 73,250.00 (€ 82,628.58).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 98 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Juan Carreño de Miranda erzielte im Juli 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper wurde die Arbeit Saint Jerome in the Wilderness hearing the trumpets of the Last Judgement für GBP 13.860,00 (€ 16.253,72) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Juan Carreño de Miranda auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of Charles Ii, King Of Spain (1661-1700) im Dezember 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 73.250,00 (€ 82.628,58).
