Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Justus Sustermans achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2016. In the Old Masters auction, the work Portrait of Orazio Piccolomini (1639-1678), three-quarter-length, with a dog sold for USD 40,000.00 (€ 36,489.69) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Justus Sustermans - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 169,000.00 (€ 113,873.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Justus Sustermans erzielte im Oktober 2016 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Orazio Piccolomini (1639-1678), three-quarter-length, with a dog für USD 40.000,00 (€ 36.489,69) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Justus Sustermans mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman beobachtet, die im Januar 2008 für USD 169.000,00 (€ 113.873,73) versteigert wurde.
