The work Gaifu Kaisei (Fine Wind, Clear Weather) “Red Fuji” by Katsushika Hokusai was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Christies in New York in March 2021. The »bidding war« ended at USD 250,000.00 (€ 212,892.79), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsushika Hokusai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] in March this year with an auction result of USD 2,760,000.00 (€ 2,538,631.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Gaifu Kaisei (Fine Wind, Clear Weather) “Red Fuji” von Katsushika Hokusai wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 250.000,00 (€ 212.892,79) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Katsushika Hokusai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.760.000,00 (€ 2.538.631,35).
