Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Katsushika Hokusai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2021. In the Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection auction, the work The actors Ichikawa Danjuro VII and Iwai Hanshiro V in the roles of Kudo Sukeyasu and Maizuri sold for GBP 6,048.00 (€ 7,036.99) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsushika Hokusai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] in March this year with an auction result of USD 2,760,000.00 (€ 2,538,631.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Katsushika Hokusai erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection wurde die Arbeit The actors Ichikawa Danjuro VII and Iwai Hanshiro V in the roles of Kudo Sukeyasu and Maizuri für GBP 6.048,00 (€ 7.036,99) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Katsushika Hokusai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.760.000,00 (€ 2.538.631,35).
