Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2018 Christies in London held the auction From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online, which included the work Twelve shunga prints by Kitagawa Utamaro. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,007.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kitagawa Utamaro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'amour évident (Arawaruru koi), portrait en buste (okubi-e) d'une jeune femme s'arrangeant une épingle à cheveux sur fond micacé, de la série Anthologie de poèmes: la section de l'amour, (Kasen koi no bu in May 2018 with an auction result of EUR 381,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion From Artist to Woodblock: Japanese Prints Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Twelve shunga prints von Kitagawa Utamaro zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.007,62) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kitagawa Utamaro erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit L'amour évident (Arawaruru koi), portrait en buste (okubi-e) d'une jeune femme s'arrangeant une épingle à cheveux sur fond micacé, de la série Anthologie de poèmes: la section de l'amour, (Kasen koi no bu im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 381.000,00.
