Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British & Irish Art Including The Selwyn Demmy Collection of Works by L S Lowry, which included the work Street in Northleach by Laurence Stephen Lowry. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 316,973.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Laurence Stephen Lowry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Going to the Match in October last year with an auction result of GBP 7,846,500.00 (€ 9,141,085.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British & Irish Art Including The Selwyn Demmy Collection of Works by L S Lowry durch, in der auch die Arbeit Street in Northleach von Laurence Stephen Lowry zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 265.250,00 (€ 316.973,34) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Laurence Stephen Lowry erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Going to the Match im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.846.500,00 (€ 9.141.085,62).
