This artwork by Lee Godie achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2019. In the Outsider and Vernacular Art auction, the work Woman in Pink sold for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,547.93) - well above the upper estimate of USD 4,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lee Godie; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Mona Lisa and Prince Charming sold at auction in January this year with the realized price of USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,542.83).
