Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works, which included the work French Le Village by Léon Légat. The price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 8,891.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Léon Légat - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Farmyard In Cernay, which sold at auction in June 2006 for GBP 22,800.00 (€ 32,991.22).
