This artwork by Lin Kai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in July 2020. In the Fine Chinese Paintings auction, the work Bingling Temple Grottoes sold for USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,335.65) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,300.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lin Kai; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Luohans and Tiger sold at auction in July 2020 with the realized price of USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,760.32).
